That, for me, is the $64,000 question ((off topic but is that show still around?!)). How to push myself from novella to novel length books. My longest piece of writing has been 26,000 words. Now, in the grander scheme of things, that is just fine. But to achieve print publishing (Wild Rose produce print books over 55,000 - I'm almost 30,000 short!) I have to write considerably more than 26,000 words.
EEEKKK!
And that is where the panic sets in. I plot, I know where the story is going, and when I sit down to tap it out, I just cannot produce those magically 55,000 words. I have two WIPs going - which, in itself, breaks my rule of only working on one piece at a time- each have the
potential of reaching that magical 55,000 + , still I don't think I can make it.
Do I have the plot and storyline to 'plump' it out? Yes. It is impatience on my part? Maybe. Am I just scared of spending that much time on a story? Probably.
But still I will sit here every day and pray to the muse that today I will make it past 55,000 words!
