Rome, 300 and all things ancient

I am a historian by trade which means, yes, I am a cliche, I love all things ancient. Be it books, movies, tv shows, vacations...

Nothing has captivated my attention so much as the HBO series Rome. I missed this first time around on tv and recently purchased the box set. By the end of episode one I was hooked. There are a few historical boo-boos, Ciaran Hinds' Caesar is not how I expected him to be, but there are good things. Good things in the shape of Titus Pullo (Ray Stevenson).

He is a real man's man. A dominating soldier, a fierce lover, yet deep down he has a tender heart. This is why I write. This is the kind of character I love to create - the Titus Pullo's of the literary world.

Moving onto movies. I saw the trailer for 300 today. The visual effects look stunning. I cannot wait to see it.

Devil's Dance and my latest man candy

The title of Snow White Queen has now been changed to Devil's Dance. As my ever present beta reader told me, the new title is more in keeping with the theme of the story. I think she may be right, Luc Campbell is definitely more of a Devil ;)

My latest inspiration for the loveable devil is Matt Schulze:

A Writer's Embarassing Confession

That's right, time for me to own up to something extremely embarassing. I cannot spell. No, really, spelling and grammar are my nemesis. I'm awful at both of those things. I can throw together a few chapters, but as for spelling - thank god for spell checker! We won't even mention grammar! Those apostrophes, colons, semi colons ...just thinking about them brings me out in cold sweats!

No matter how much I try, I cannot seem to muster the courage and over come those dreadful grammatical errors. *blushes*

Does any one else suffers from a writing nemesis?

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Someone asked me the other day how I can be so organized. To be honest, I have no idea. All I can say is thank god for my palm pilot! I make tons of 'to do' lists and gradually I seem to get down all the holiday and daily chores. Previous I've written all these lists on pieces of paper, only to find they disappear as the week move on.

Palm pilot, Scarlett salutes you!

My halls are decked, my presents are almost (not quite) wrapped, my christmas cards are sent. As for baking, ahhhh, lets avoid that subject.

Writing wise, I'm working on a Scarlet rose, hopefully once it's finished TWRP will want to contract it. *fingers crossed*

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to all who joined and chatted with us Wild Rose Press authors at Joyfully Reviewed. I, for one, had a blast.

It's a yahoo group, so please come by and say hi! This is my first official chat...or even participation in anything author based (lol). I'm nervous to say the least.

Hope your holiday plans are all going well. *looks over at huge pile of gifts yet to be wrapped and decorations to deal with* Mine are going just swell ;)
